NDFP peace consultant arrested

A consultant of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines in the peace negotiations with the Philippine government was arrested yesterday, Jan. 31 in Quezon City.

Rafael Baylosis and his companion Guillermo Roque were arrested and brought to the CIDG-NCR.

Human rights group Karapatan helped locate Baylosis and his companion.

Ramento Project for Rights Defenders executive director Fr. Jonash Joyohoy called his arrest as an unfortunate strain in the midst of the people’s unrelenting call for the resumption of peace talks.

Baylosis is a member of the NDFP reciprocal working committee on political and constitutional reforms, which has been looking into the Duterte-backed shift to a federal form of government. (RPRD News)
